Podcasts
In the hope of sparking interest in my interests, I’m going to start logging the podcasts I listen to. I do listen to a lot of them and the subjects do vary but I’ll try to be clear about the decriptions. For the time being I’ll list the podcast name and the description. In the future I’ll see about adding subscription links to make it easier to reach them and test them out.
- 12 Volt Theater - Jack Jaffee’s writing is dark, creepy, and a little nasty. Most of all, it’s got the most important thing. It’s good. His primary story line, Down The Road, is just great. The idea behind that patricular story is that the listeners can vote on what’s to come next in the series. Personally, I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next after the Down the Road story. Mature Audiences need only apply
- The Adventures of Indiana Jim - This podcast varies between pod-talk to pod-fiction. The Host, Indiana Jim offers up opinions, stories, and interviews for the listener to enjoy. Sometimes he’s heavy into sci-fi, sometimes he gets on current events topics. His fiction varies between weird to dangerously awesome. Good for those looking for a casual show that doesn’t require you to stay on top of everything to enjoy.
- The Babylon Podcast - If you’re a B5 fan, you should be listening to this show. If you’re a Televised Sci-Fi fan, you should be listening to this show. If you like Sci-Fi at all and enjoy the modern shows and wnat to know what show set many of the trends we enjoy now, you should listen to this show. It rocks, it’s fun, and the live stream is even better if you can swing it. Audience varies but this show is approved for all members of the League of Non-Aligned Worlds.
- Buffy Between The Lines - If you’re a Buffy the Vampire Slayer Fan, you’re familiar with the fact the TV series always skipped the summer during each season. This fan-based podcast focuses on developing non-canonical stories for these times between and so far with season 2 underway, they’ve been doing pretty good. Teen Audience okay, probably should also be a Buffy fan.
- Christiana’s Shallow Thoughts - If you liked the Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy back in the day, you’ll love these. Christiana Ellis, a great podcast novelist, provides us with a short but hilarious batch of funny each day. Her humor is nice and crisp and so is her writing. I’ll link to her books too in the future. Any Audience but being a little crazy helps make this show so much more awesome.
- Escape Pod - PodCastle - Pesudopod - These three podcasts provide some of the best in free weekly audio fiction. Each focuses primarily on one genre, Sci Fi (Escape Pod), Fantasy (PodCastle), and horror (Pesudopod), although as the home of the trio, occasionally horror or fantasy will end up on Escape pod, especially during Hugo award season. Maturity Level varies, and they have warnings so feel free to listen at your discretion. Pick and choose your favorite.
- Pod Culture - A Pod-talk style of show. Podculture, hosting by Brad, Christina, and Glen, focuses primarily on great geekyness. They talk about TV, DVD’s, games, food, Conventions, and general topics of interest to the inner nerd. There shows tend to focus on what they are doing and what they are enjoying, so don’t expect too many current events unless it’s important to one of the hosts. Maturity level fluxes so it’s good for temporal unstable beings.
- WhatTheCast? - Pod-Talk style of show, WhatTheCast? follows a group of creative folks who talk about various geek culture, a lot of talk about Cons and Sci-Fi media, and general sillyness. The Hosts are South East-US based and Dragon Con is a frequent topic of their show (since all of them do work at the yearly convention). In addition, they also develope most if not all of the DragonCon TV content. Approved for all players of indestructo tank.
